Briana Elyse Hunter has been on the rosters of many opera companies including Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, The Santa Fe Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, Sarasota Opera, El Paso Opera, and Music Academy of the West where she sang the title role of Carmen under the tutelage of the great Marilyn Horne. She made her role debut as Hannah after in Laura Kaminsky’s As One at Merkin Hall, and this summer created the role of Mother in the world premiere of Blue by Jeanine Tesori and Tazewell Thompson at the Glimmerglass Festival, and will reprise this role at Washington National Opera this coming February.
