The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s educational video includes a recording of students from their Talent Development Program playing PLEA FOR PEACE. This program looks at the life and philosophy of Martin Luther King Jr. and examines through music, where we are today in the continued fight for equality and justice. Students learn how current events or history can inspire composers to create works as a response or reflection. The performance is conducted by Jerry Hou.

President of the Jury, IRCAM, ManiFeste-2022, in partnership with the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France. Prizes include the 2022 Élan Award (from Musique en Liberté and Radio France); a co-commission from IRCAM and Orchestre national d’Île-de-France for a new piece for soloist, orchestra and electronics; and, during the 2022/2023 season, the Laureate will benefit of IRCAM studios and will work closely with an IRCAM computer-music designer on the electronics of one’s piece. This new piece with electronics will be performed during the Final concert of the Élan 2023 Competition.

World Premiere of FOREST OF SHIFTING TIME a ballet at Trinity Commons, 76 Trinity Place, New York, NY. Choreographed and directed by BalletCollective Artistic Director Troy Schumacher and set to a vibrant 31-minute score for the Detroit-based Akropolis Reed Quintet, the ballet features whimsical costumes and props by artist and designer Doug Fitch and lighting by Ben Rawson. Featuring dancers trained in a multitude of methodologies, including dancers from New York City Ballet and alumni of The Ailey School and The Juilliard School: Graham Feeny, Jada German, Megan LeCrone, Zoe Liebold, Shelby Mann, Ava Sautter, Lorenzo Pagano, and Haley Winegarden. BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Two explorers enter an unknown place with no way out but forward, and find themselves among shifting trees, dancing dinosaurs, playful insects, and more.
